# Glossary: Terms in the Selmo system

| Term                   | Meaning                                                                |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Selmo**              | Sequence Logic Modelling – model-based control standard                |
| **Plant**              | Overall system/machine with HWZs and central functions                 |
| **HWZ**                | Hardware Zone – autonomous unit with operating modes and sequences     |
| **SEQ (Sequence)**     | Modeled sequence of a subprocess (e.g. clamping, pushing)              |
| **Zone**               | Link between model and real signal (Input/Output/In-Out/Mem)           |
| **Bit-Control**        | Matrix: States (rows) ↔ Zones (columns) ↔ Behavior (`0`, `S`, `i`)     |
| **S (Sequence Check)** | Expected action or feedback in a state                                 |
| **i (Interlock)**      | Must-condition – on deviation → error + stop                           |
| **0**                  | No meaning in this state                                               |
| **CMZ**                | Constantly Monitoring Zone – state-independent safety monitoring       |
| **MXIC**               | Manual Cross Interlock – release condition for manual buttons          |
| **Parameter**          | Data values such as times, counters, positions – as IN / OUT / INOUT   |
| **Logic Layer**        | State model: sequence control                                          |
| **System Layer**       | Behavior model of the zones (Bit-Control)                              |
| **Parameter Layer**    | Data interface to HMI, OPC UA, etc.                                    |
| **SDEA**               | Structured Deterministic Extended Automaton – the formal model concept |
| **SEQ Control**        | HMI module for control, diagnosis and navigation within a SEQ          |
